Miracle League baseball began in Georgia, in 1998. The Rockdale Youth Baseball Association invited children with disabilities to play baseball on a typical baseball field at their youth sports complex. Miracle League baseball has been growing ever since, evolving into a national organization with chapters located in many cities across the USA. The goal of Miracle League is to offer children, young adults, and adults with special needs the opportunity to play baseball. The Miracle League believes:
"Everybody Deserves the Chance to Play Baseball."
Miracle League of Austin County, Texas
The Miracle League of Austin County Texas (ML of ACTX) chapter was founded in 2014. The ML of ACTX serves special needs children in Austin County, Texas and the surrounding communities. Residency in Austin County is not a requirement to play. We currently serve players from Bellville, Brenham, Burton, Cat Spring, Chappel Hill, Columbus, Industry, Needville, Sealy, Waller, and Wallis. Our games are on Sunday afternoons at Clark Park in Bellville, Texas. We have a Spring Season and a Fall Season and games are one hour in length (two innings).
We welcome players of all ability levels. There is no such thing as "too disabled" or "not enough disabled". If your child has a love for the game, if you are looking for an opportunity for increased social interactions for your child, if you are working to increase physical activity for your child, or if for whatever reason traditional Little League isn't for your player then we encourage you to learn more about the ML of ACTX.
Our games are possible because of the Buddy System. Each player is paired with a buddy who will then assist the player throughout the game. Support level from a Buddy varies by player and special attention is given to pairing Buddy and player combinations. We work hard to ensure that game day is a positive experience for both the players and the Buddies.
The ML of ACTX is a true grassroots organization. We were started in a kitchen by two special needs moms. We operate on a shoestring budget and have yet to undertake any formal fundraising. We rely primarily on word of mouth . The support given by our community has been nothing short of incredible and we remain humbled and thankful for the donations of time and treasure.
